Have you ever looked back and wondered what you were thinking?
We’ve all made decisions that we regretted later even though, at the time, it made complete sense. When this happens in business, it is not only embarrassing, it is costly as well.
That’s why our mindset is so important.
I am not just talking about our IQ, or how quick-witted we are. I am talking about how our minds process information.
Our success, our happiness, our health, indeed, our entire life depends on how we think. Yet, few of us ever really think about what we think about.
And when it comes to business, even though we put a great amount of time, money and effort into analytics, research, and data mining to improve our situation, we don’t give enough attention to the very foundation of all that effort; the psychology of how we think.
We have all heard about companies spending an incredible amount of resources on a project only to have it bomb. Did the people involved analyze their biases, motivations, or fears as well as they did the project? NO WAY!
This is an example of why work can be so frustrating, or if you run the business, why it can be so overwhelming!
It also demonstrates the importance of Business Psychology.

Have We Met?
John M. Fischette
For some reason, these pages are usually written in third person…silly, I know. Oops, I mean “he” knows.
Oh, forget it. Third person just doesn’t feel right.
As a business consultant, coach and trainer, I have helped professionals, groups, and organizations obtain their goals and learn how to enjoy the process along the way.
I’m different. I have both real-world experience (so I know what you are going through) and academic training (so I have a lot of tools and resources to help you).
I’m also unique in that I believe all business is personal and that the bottom line isn’t only about money. (If you want to check out my business manifesto, (Click here).
I earned an MBA, a degree in Psychology, a few certifications and won a few writing awards. (Two semi-prestigious writing awards from the Los Angeles Creative Club & one VERY non-prestigious, but much-coveted, Inland Empire Advertising “Golden Zucchini” Award of Excellence…just sayin’.)
Additionally, I have over 20 years of experience starting and running businesses. Therefore, I have led, managed, and coached people to improve productivity, increase profits and create huge corporate and personal results.
I know exactly what is like to; take a company to the next level, inspire team members to back a common goal, feel the weight of hitting your numbers, cover desks, make sure the delivery is on time…well, you get the picture.
Alright, that’s enough about that. If you want to know a few more interesting details about me, please see below.
Career Highlights You Might Find Interesting
I have been told that I need to share more personal information on this page so you get a better sense of who I am (we didn’t do this sort of thing before social media was so popular).
I solved the Rubik’s Cube…twice. Of course, I am nothing like this kid.
Let’s see, what else?
Oh, although I hate it when people name drop (fame does not rub off famous people and on to us, making us almost famous), some folks find it interesting that while working at a comedy club, I was blessed to meet (read: make laugh, laugh with, talk to, visit, get to know) a lot of VERY interesting, talented, and funny people.
Jonathan Winters, Rodney Dangerfield, Jerry Seinfeld, Robin Williams, Jim Carrey, Dana Carvey, David Spade, Dennis Miller, Kevin Nealon, Rosie O’Donnell, Madonna (what the…, why is she on the list, she’s not funny?), Steven Wright, Norman Lear, Drew Carey, Jeff Foxworthy (listed just in case any rednecks read this :), Tom Kenny (before and after Spongebob Squarepants) Tom Arnold, Rosanne Barr (before and after the divorce, and yes, it got weird), Bob Odenkirk (before becoming a drug dealer on Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul) and A LOT of other very funny people.
Is that too much name dropping? Sorry.
Yah, it’s not like I’m best friends with them. Well enough then. I won’t bother telling you about the time I met George Burns, Jimmy Stewart, and Betty White all on the same day. It’s not like they’re legends or anythi….oh, wait, yes they are.
Or about the time I met the President of the United States. Seriously, I met an actual POTUS! He was actually a customer mine. (Click here to see which one).
OK, Ok, Ok, I’m done now.
Career Lowlight You Probably Will Find Interesting
I freelanced at a company that let a cat with a “tummy ache” roam freely around the office…including on top of my desk.! I quit after only two hours, went home, and burned my clothes.
